Primrose Trophy postponement...

With great regret, but rather unsurprisingly, I am announcing the postponement of this year's event. The decision has been taken out of our hands by today's statement from Motorsport UK regarding the withdrawal and suspension of any event permits until the 30th April.

All competitors will receive a full refund and we will be looking to get a date confirmed for later in the year but it is to early to say when just yet.

Thanks to all the PR crews who were still working only yesterday to make the event happen and all the crews who had put such a strong entry together.

Jack Neal Memorial Rally cancellation...

Jack Neal Memorial Rally 2020
Sat 1st Feb 2020

Clitheroe and District Motor Club are sad to announce that the Jack Neal Memorial Rally scheduled for the 1st Feb has been cancelled. This is because of a £4500 increase in cost plus whilst we will no longer have the use of the grain store or briefing room.

Having considered it, we have come to the conclusion the venue is no longer viable.

It is a shame that the new management has taken this view, after over 10 years of building up the two events to be popular and well attended. That said we have to respect their decision. I believe that other clubs have had the same issue with there events.

I think now is a good time to recognise others involved in this event. Bruce Lindsay for coming up with the concept all those years ago, Steve Lewis for being the next Clerk, Maurice Ellison for being involved in all of them in one form or another, usually as Chief Marshal. Heidi and now Katie as Secretary and all the volunteers over the years who have made the events happen, thanks to you all.

The Jack Neal is not lost, I owe it to Jack to ensure it continues in one form or another.

We welcome PD Extinguishers as title sponsor of the 2019 Hall Trophy Rally - approx. 40 stages miles of smooth tarmac at Blyton Park Driving Centre.

Well done to those that made the PD Extinguishers Hall Trophy 2019 a success. Competitors, marshals, caterers (Brendas pie), the TEAM!

The weather made it a challenge being a soggy one (made a change from freezing to death though). A small team worked hard throughout the weekend finishing off on Sunday with the big track clean up. Team spirit and great fun had by all. Back to work for a rest!

I would just like to say a massive thank you to a small but dedicated team for all the hard work on this year's Clitheronian.

Matt Broadbent (Chief Marshal). Great job.
To Taybridge Construction for their continued support.
Chris, Heidi and Steve on the results.
Jez Turner and Mark Johnson on set up. Faultless as always.
Dave Barratt and Mick Conboy. Course closing car.
Steve L and Andrew bringing up the rear as mop up crew.

I would also like to thank all the Marshals for giving us your valuable time. Without whom we could not do what we do.

To the competitors both new and old to the Clitheronian for showing your support to the event. I hope you all enjoyed it regardless of how your night went?

Well done to Ben Briant and Gary Evens on a well deserved win. A nice touch from Gary at the end "This one is special. As we have been trying for few years to win the Clitheronian".

Ben on his first win. It must be particularly pleasing to have the Briant name back on top again.

Commiserations to those who just missed out and hope to see you all again next year.

Legend Fires North West Stages thankyous...
Sat 23rd March

I want to say a massive thank you to all of the marshals and officials that made the Nicky Nook stage a possibility today. I think it's fair to say it's been a pretty steep learning curve for all those involved, but we ended up with a stage to be proud of.... Read Matt's full thankyou on CDMC Facebook page.

Matthew Broadbent – Deputy Stage Commander

...I just want to thank you all for your magnificent efforts on Saturday, to marshal the Nicky Nook stage, which had the bulk of the 1,000s of spectators that attended the event, as only one other stage had a single viewing area. I know that it is an old adage but without marshals, there simply would not be any rallying and I haven't had one single complaint reported to me... Read Ken's full thankyou on CDMC Facebook page.

Ken Wilkinson - Nicky Nook Chief Marshal

...Then we have over 650 volunteers who worked on the day, not just out on the stages but in the back rooms as well, Safety Team, Radio, Rescue, Results, Set-up teams, Timing, Marshals, Commentators, Car park staff, programme sellers, etc... Read Dave's full thankyou on LFNWS Facebook page.
